Default How do I ensure correct duplex printing?

I'm new to Word; longtime Mac user.
How do I ensure correct duplex printing (double-side printing) of my document? I want even-numbered page 2 to print on reverse of odd-numbered page 1, and so forth. Document apparently displays correctly on screen. I'm using mirrored layout; odd and even pages have correct margins with a gutter allowance; page numbers, and headers/footers appear at outside of page. It is set to Different first page, Different odd and even pages. When printing, first spits out single-sided page 1 (like a cover page), then remainder with even pages with their following odd pages on the reverse, collated in reverse as expected, ending with pages 2 and 3. That is, page 3 is on reverse of 2 instead of 2 on reverse of 1. I clearly have some setting wrong somewhere, but where?

(using Word v.15.35,, with OS Sierra 10.12.5)
