I did ctrl-F9 (on my windows 7 pc) and got a dark-gray background between the { and }. When I press enter, nothing happens. I manually typed it in exactly as you posted and when I right click (just gave that a try), I have the option "toggle field codes", which replaces the text I typed for "Error!"
