In Word, language is a text attribute, just like bold or italics, so the language at the insertion point may be incorrect even if the default language is correct.

In the Language dialog box (Review | Language | Set Proofing Language), clear the "Detect language automatically" option; that way, you prevent Word from changing the language at the insertion point. The setting applies to all files that you open in Word.

For existing documents whose language formatting is already incorrect, you may have to other choice than to select all the text and manually (re-)apply Dutch via the Language dialog box. Click the OK option (not Set as Default).

Hi Stefan,

As you can see below, I have unchecked the "Detect language automatically" but still the date is in English format.

Any clues?

Kind regards,

Arie

Does the language format "behave" in new, blank documents?

If the problem is only with existing documents, (re-)apply Dutch as I describe in my previous post.
