Most likely whoever it is has some software that outputs reports to Word. Word really isn't designed for doing statistical analyses. Still, if you really, really, really want tot go down that path, you can see how to do a wide range of calculations in Word via field coding in my Microsoft Word Field Maths Tutorial:

Hi, macropod,

Thank you! I was not able to access that file without registering at that other forum, but I will see if I can get to it tomorrow.

1. Do you happen to have any knowledge of what type of software that outputs reports to Word?

A quick search gives the impression that this is possible with some of the available programs for statistics. Not sure what the benefit would be in exporting it to Word, though.

2. For some reason, I've gotten the impression that perhaps he's doing his own calculations "manually", so it might be he's doing that directly in Word?

Is it possible to set up tables in Word for sorting data like you can do with tables in Excel?

FWIW, I will probably stick to Excel myself. Just trying to get a sense of what he might have been doing.

Thanks in advance!

John
