I Understand what you are saying... but... i want a left alignment and a right alignment on the same line - like word perfect can do (no text in the centre)

when I want to do this then I use a single row table with two columns, then you can Flush Left or Right inside each of the cells. Turn off the borders and you can't see that it's a table.

That can be a useful method, but won't work if you have text on the left or the right that extends past the middle of the page. See screenshot below.

The top shows the text with a right-tab set at the right margin.
The middle one shows the same text using a table, with borders showing.
The bottom shows the same text in the table without the borders.
For many purposes, the table is a good solution.
