Can links move with the document?

I did read it and I read it thoroughly, but as I previously said I do not really understand what every comment means and even if I do understand something it does not mean I also know how to fix/change it.

In any case, all my attempts to make the macro work on the main document have failed, I am not receiving any errors and nothing changes within the document. However, I also lack the knowledge to debug this properly.

Do you have any ideas what can cause the macro to not do anything without an error?

The macro works fine, and has done so for years. If it's not doing anything, that's probably because the document is already in the folder the path points to.
