I am not experiencing the problem. Using Word 2013. Saved as .docx, closed, reopened. Numbering remains stable. For truly stable numbering, follow the directions at How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in Ribbon Versions of Word by Shauna Kelly or its predecessor article for earlier versions of Word.
Does this happen if you have Word started in safe mode? |
