How do I get rid of hyperlinks in Word 365? They automatically appear when I type an email address and I'm writing a novel. Not appropriate for this type of paper.

To kill off any existing hyperlinks, select them and press Ctrl-Shift-F9. To prevent their creation, go to File|Options|Proofing>AutoCorrect Options>AutoFormat As You Type, then uncheck the 'Internet and network paths with hyperlinks' option.

Macropod.
The control-shift-F9 didn't seem to work for me in Word 365, but turning off hyperlinks in AutoFormat did and that is quite sufficient. Many, many thanks. It was driving me crazy. |

Ctrl+Shift+F9 doesn't work because your computer has hijacked the function keys (guess). If you have a Fn key, press that, too.
What I do, in documents where I do not want the color and underlining because it makes the document harder to read, is to change the hyperlink and followed hyperlink styles to not have these features. Those are saved in the document. |
