I'm combining several documents together however the styles of the headings are slightly different. Is there a way for me to select all of one type of heading and change the style so they're the same? Thanks.

Yes. It is called using "Styles."

If the styles used in the different documents use the same names, the definitions in the destination document will be applied to newly imported text.
