Thanks so much for the very quick reply! Unfortunately, I am still having difficulties. The "update automatic links at open" option was already checked. The "update linked data before printing" option wasn't checked, so I checked it. But the image is still not updating automatically under any circumstances (I modified the image, then tried closing the document and opening it again, and also printing it, but the image in the word document never changed).
