I use word 16. All of a sudden, my manuscript is missing headers and footnotes. The icon for page numbers is pale suggesting to me that the numbers are hiding someplace.



I switched to another manuscript and its headers and footnotes are also missing. What happened? How do I get headers and footnotes back on the page?

I am using windows Word 2016. The View section does not have a tools section and when I move my mouse over the area where a line break may show up, nothing happens. I'm still stuck. Help.

It is not on the view tab. It is in the Word options for display.

This is a toggle control. In at least one version of Word, it was toggled by a single errant mouse click. These days it takes a double-click. Otherwise, it can be found in the Word options.

It is my guess that this is your problem. If I am mistaken, please write back.

Thanks again. I found the option which is already turned on but no line appears on hovering.
