![]()
Hello,
I inserted a section break between the introduction and rest of my document. I am able to manipulate the pages numbers, so that in the introduction pages are numbered (i, ii, iii) and in the rest of the document 1, 2, 3. However, when I try to DELETE the footer so that there are no page numbers, the entire footer is consistently deleted. Is there a way to have no footer for one section and then begin again in the next? Thanks! Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 10-24-2016 at 06:54 PM. Reason: Mark as solved |

There is a setting on footers (after the first section) that is 'same as previous' or 'link to previous'. If this is turned on, then editing the footer in one section also changes the linked section footers (both forwards and backwards).
So you need to turn off this setting in the second footer BEFORE you edit the footer.

Thanks! Your point about "forwards and backwards" was key. Whoever designed this feature apparently didn't know the meaning of the word "previous." I assumed I didn't need to turn this off in the first section, as there isn't a previous section.

You evidently haven't understood the advice; it is not the first section's footer you need to unlink, but the second section's footer. The first section's footer cannot be unlinked from a previous section's footer because there isn't one. If you unlinked anything successfully, it was the second or subsequent section.
