Default What kind of formatting is this gray highlighting?

While using easybib.com for some schoolwork, I noticed that every time I copied and pasted from their website, I was left with an extremely stubborn gray highlight on the text. I did figure out that using the "merge formatting" paste option is an effective way to remove it, but I can't for the life of me figure out where the option is in word that controls it. I've attached an example document for you guys to play with. Thoughts?
