Hi to all, first post/thread here...
I'm currently working on a document for a client. He wants to have a fillable form with various fields. I have already inserted the corresponding text boxes, and I eventually want to restrict editing to the document allowing users only to fill the forms. However, I also want the user to be able to edit the data in several charts I have included in the document. Is it possible to restrict editing allowing the user to fill the form AND edit the data in the charts? Also, can I be a bit of an ass and say that Paul Allen should also be allowed as an answer to the registering question of "Who founded Microsoft?" ?? ![]() I might as well throw one more question for the form-and-table-savvy... I have the form text boxes inside a table. I'm using Rich Text controls. Can I fix the height of each cell in the table? I know the Rich Text control will expand as I type on it, but I don't want the table cells to expand. I'd like to have them set for a certain height. |

If you use content controls for the data input, you can use the 'No Changes (Read Only)' editing restrictions to mark as exceptions everywhere in the documents you want users to be able to edit.
Re: Paul Allen, neither the question nor the answer is the least bit relevant here - MSOfficeForums.com is not affiliated with Microsoft. Re: Tables with Rich Text controls, yes you can fix the row height - the same way you'd do for any table.

Not if you use the 'No Changes (Read Only)' editing restrictions and mark the chart as an exception.

But Word doesn't allow "exceptions" when you use the "Filling out forms" option.

If you paid attention to the kind of protection I said to use (twice now and both times quoted by you in your replies), you might actually get the results you want...

Anyway, seems to be working. I tried it with a couple of text boxes and a chart, and I can work with them but I can't alter the rest of the document, which is what I want. I'll keep formatting all the document and see if the end result works. Thanks. |

My apologies then if any of my replies seemed bitchy or out of line. That wasn't my intention. I appreciate the help.

After tinkering with it more, it worked pretty well. Let's see what the client thinks.
Thanks for all the help, macropod. |
