Default fillin fields repeating when printing

I have been using a template which was created using 2003 software with fillin fields which worked fine until the I upgraded to Windows 10 and 2013. Previously I would File > New > complete the message boxes when they prompted > add some additional information to the template > save > print

the fillin fields still appear correctly and populate the word document, but when I press print, the fillin field prompts reappear then I get back to the print screen, press print and again the prompt fields reoccur and keep going around in a loop.

I have recreated the complete document from scratch, but still the problem exists

  • Are fillin fields still ok to use in 2013 and then 2016?
  • Should I be using a different method?
  • or how can I overcome this?

I have found fillin fields a very useful method of prompting for key information and would like to continue using these simple but useful templates if at all possible.
Many thanks
