I am writing a very long book using Word 2011 for a Macbook Air and many of my page numbers in the document do not match the page numbers on the bottom control line (whose name I've forgotten). I know how to delete the numbers individually but it is taking too much time. Is there a way to delete groups or all of them at once? (Word 2011 for mac).

The part at the bottom is the footer.
If you typed the page numbers into the body of your document, they are not dynamic. You have to delete them one by one. That is the reason people put them in the footer using a page number field. If there is some way for Word to identify them as page numbers, they can be deleted by Word's replace feature. If you want, post a couple of pages that have these page numbers and someone here may be able to help you figure out such a way. To post a document here, press the Go Advanced button under the posting window and then use the paperclip icon. Do not post confidential or proprietary information.
