Hi. I'm having problems with these two systems. I have Word 2007 and recently I created a document and uploaded it to use in a group on Facebook. There are 3 other administrators in the group that have access to the document to add things and edit it. Well one of the admins recently edited the document and saved it to the group but he has Word 2013. So when I went in to edit the document and tried to save it, it won't save and I don't know why. I can edit and save any of my other documents on my computer with no problem. So I'm wondering if there is something that happened when he saved it that caused it to not work with Word 2007. He said that when he tried to save it, it wouldn't allow him to save it unless he answered yes to the question about keeping "modern format" But I didn't think that would have anything to do with why I can't save it. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you able to save it back to your hard drive? If so, the problem is your rights to re-save the file on facebook rather than the file format.

Thank you for answering me. Yes I can save it back to my computer/hard drive. So how do I change the settings for the rights to re-save it on facebook? Does the other person with Word 2013 have to change it on his end?

I don't know how facebook assigns rights to overwrite files. This forum is not the right place to ask a question like that.

I would have expected that the person who first loads the file could control who had access to read/write the same file. If someone else has edited the file then they may have changed your write privileges either accidentally or on purpose.

Perhaps, once the updated file is saved to your hard drive, you can write it back over the top of the same (older) file on facebook.

This definitely does not have anything to do with the different Word versions and does have to do with permissions on FB.
