Very often, when I search, in a document, for, say, a word using the Find of Find & Replace, Word, apparently finding an occurence of this word in the document, stops but the word is not shown highlighted in grey as "normally" happens, i.e., the grey shading is not shown, in other words one doesn't see the Find result, as such.
However, if one then clicks the mouse on the document, the gray-shaded Find-result now suddenly appears. Doubtless to say, this problem is infuriating because it happens far too often. |

This may just be a display driver issue. Check the maker's website for an updated driver. It's also possible a faulty third-party addin, if you have any, is conflicting with Word's F/R operations.

I thought this was a bug in Word 2013 and later. If the item Word found is near the top or bottom of the page, it may not be highlighted unless you click on the page. Then you'll see the little animated cursor thingy jump to the found item. >

The problem affects only a very small proportion of Word 2013 installations, which is why display driver issues are the most likely cause.

I've been living with this annoying problem since the company "upgraded" to Word 2013. After reading the replies to the question, I submitted a help desk ticket. For what it's worth, this is the answer one of the computer guys came up with (and he said to go ahead and post it on this forum): "I doubt it's a driver issue. I can verify this behavior on both of my machines with two different video cards and remotely where a video driver isn't involved. Changing to draft view seems to help."
