Default Documents Take 5 Minutes To Open

We have users in various departments who access templates across our network from a folder located on “Serverd” on the K drive. They open Word, and then choose to open a Template which brings up a window where they can choose from the templates on the K drive. They then save this to their C drive as a Word document, type in the required information and save the file locally. Once they are finished making corrections, they will copy and then paste the saved .doc file to our H drive on the same server, again as a .doc file.

The problem is that when they return to this document on the H drive to make any corrections the customer might want, it takes on average, 4-5 minutes for the document to open. We have always used the procedure outlined above but just recently started having this problem 2-3 weeks ago.

What steps might we use to resolve this issue?

Thank you,

Jeff Farrar
