![]() I have a long document (around 300 pages) and set footnotes to restart on each new page. On both screen view and print preview, the footnotes correctly show to begin anew on each page, but when I print out a page at random, the footnotes do not match the digital copy. They seem to be continuous on the printout, but not on print preview. I have a custom built computer with Windows 10, 16 GB memory, and 5th gen Intel processor. What is going on? |

It shouldn't really make a difference, but ... When the renumbering fails, are you printing a selected range of text or a sequence of pages?
As a workaround, you could save as PDF and print that.

I'm not interested in printing the complete 300+ pages at this time. However, what i'm doing is printing out sections to view for proofing and the footnotes are not renumbering (using small letters instead of numbers) on each page. I'm getting a range of letters some of which are as example: aaaaaa, or mmmmmm, and this is on like page 250.
I want to Word to work like it should; if not, surely others have run into this and Microsoft should pursue a fix. BTW, I had the same experience on Word 2013 before I updated to the new 2016 version. I think the numbering system works on older versions such as 2010, but I need it to work on 2016. |

Note that I wasn't suggesting that you should print the whole document. Save a PDF version and then print the desired range of the PDF, and see what happens.
In a quick test I have not been able to reproduce the problem in Word 2013 running on Windows 7 Professional. Does it occur with a particular document only?

I got you. I was only saying - it's the only document I have that's that long. So far it has worked fine with shorter documents such as 15-20 pages roughly. I will try the pdf suggestion and see what happens and reply - probably later on tonight.

OK, i tried converting to pdf format and it still does not reset numbering on each page. There's got to be a reason for this - surely I'm not the only one who has experienced this weird phenomenon.
Any other ideas I might try? |
