An annoying phenomenon during opening an existing xxx.doc

Hello everybody. When opening some already existing in my computer xxx.doc file one of the already opened and minimized word document windows pops up on the desktop. This makes me have to minimize it again and shift the document being just opened into the place where this unwonted window popped up. Where and how do I have to make a popper change in the settings of the Microsoft Word to prevent this annoying phenomenon? I mean I would like to have my another word file being opened in another widow without any other already opened and minimized word doc. popping up on the desktop.

What happens if you uncheck the Advanced Option for "Show All Windows in Taskbar?"

Well, "Charles Kenyon", thank you for your suggestion, still of all four word documents which were opened in my computer and visible in the Taskbar all vanished except one, probably the one which was used last. Then when I opened another already existing in my computer word document, it appeared on the desktop itself replacing the one left of the four which were already opened.

So,:
1. I am not happy with vanishing from the Taskbar of all, except one, the already opened in the computer, word documents; anyway, where were they when they vanished from the Taskbar; where should I look for them to draw them up to the desktop if necessary...? They should still be opened since I haven't shut them after all...

2. It's true, the other (fifth) just opened word document appeared on the desktop WITHOUT showing the other word document still seen in the Taskbar, however in the moment of having it opened, the one left of the four just mentioned, DISAPPEARED from the Taskbar and from the Desktop where only the one I've just opened from the file remained...

The point is I would NOT like to change anything regarding the already opened word documents; I would still like to have them visible in the Taskbar and NOT being replaced by another word document which I wish to open. The only thing I am keen to change is to prevent one of the already opened word documents from popping up on the Desktop together with the document I am opening in addition...

Still hopping there must be some way of fixing it.

Sorry, couldn't have known for sure. People usually use their user names there which most often aren't their real names.

Anyhow, I cannot imagine this behavior of Microsoft Word application I've described above is merely accidental and has not been purposely designed. If so it would have been extremely mean not to leave users the opportunity of reversing this annoying, stupid and purposeless, at least as I find it, behavior of this glorious software. Although in the end I would not be so much surprised if they, as being arrogant monopolists, would have superciliously inflicted this unnerving inconvenience on all to suffer, indeed.

Still, if someone knows how to fight it down, please, HELP!!!

It is not normal behaviour that you are describing so I would assume that you have an add-in that is causing this problem.

What add-ins do you have loaded? If you open Word in Safe Mode do you still see this behaviour?

In the attachment there is a screenshot listing my add-ins.

In a safe mode there is EXACTLY the same effect.

And I checked with two independent friends of mine - they have EXACTLY the same behavior...

If you get the same behavior in Safe mode, it is not Add-Ins.

It may be that it is Windows 7.

I also note that you are using the 64-bit version of Office. While I know of no reason to think that would be the difference, I have no way to test.

OK, I've been doing some testing and can reproduce your issue on Word 2013. In my case, a 'previously minimised' document is brought back to the screen but it appears behind the new document window so it is barely noticeable.

I guess you could write a macro to minimise all windows except the top one but it certainly isn't high on my list of macro must haves.

This is not as it acts in my case, however. If for example my "previously [opened and] minimized" windows had been originally placed on the right half of the screen, which is what usually happens, then the unwanted, already opened and minimized, window which pops up from the Taskbar on the screen appears on the right half of it while the new window is being opened on the LEFT one, which is annoying because I instinctively expect it appear on the right half and this is where automatically my sight travels and where I confusingly find a different window.

It appears that the problem occurs when EVERY Word document is minimised and you use explorer to open another document. In this case, Word looks like it has to restore at least one window to visibility before it can show the new doc.

Is that your experience too or are you getting the behaviour when at least one Word doc is visible first?

In concept, a macro can be used to trap document events such as WindowSize. It may be possible to use this event to discover if a document is also being launched at the same time which could then allow you to reverse this resurrected window. I'm not about to spend any time working on this #firstworldproblem when a simpler fix is to either close your hidden documents or show at least one before opening a new one.

No, I'm getting this behavior when ALL documents are minimized.

This is exactly what I experience and endeavor to figure out how to change it because this stupid disturbing behavior of which purpose I cannot even conceive of must have been purposely designed by some overdeveloped philosopher there in Microsoft pool and is plaguing Word users' experience.

I appreciate any time of yours you've already spent working on this issue and I really do, yet I completely disagree with your conviction that in order to have this behavior of Word software eliminated "it is easier to close hidden documents." Assuming I permanently work, with some breaks, on those documents that procedure of closing them and then presumably opening them again, would appear to be even more disturbing than having to manipulate with automatically opened window!!! The other idea of yours of "showing at least one window before opening a new one" seems to me a little absurd because it is more or less what I already have to do right now, and firmly try to fight it, only in opposite order...

I also doubt I'm the only one in the world struggling with this idiocy ... and obstinately look for an effective solution.
