Every time I hit enter for a new paragraph, Word changes the formatting - even if I'm working within something already using a style sheet.



Suggestions?

The formatting you get when starting a new paragraph depends on the Style relationships defined for the paragraph you were in when you pressed the Enter key.

BTW, Word hasn't used Style Sheets for over two decades and every document uses Styles.

Every paragraph Style's definition includes details of its parent Style (from which it inherits various properties) plus the name of whatever paragraph Style will apply to the next paragraph when you press the Enter Key.

I've read a lot of guides in the past but nothing that solves this problem.

How do I ensure that when I hit enter, the style is maintained?

Every time I do, it changes back to 'normal'.

Surely I can get it to understand that the entire document should be one style?

Okay - problem solved.

Format > style > modify > style for following paragraph

Set this to same as style being modified, then > ok > apply
