Default TOC is positioning page numbers differently for Headings of same style

Here's an example of what I mean. All entrees in this TOC are same level (1). but the TOC is treating them differently

FIRST CHAPER 1
SECOND CHAPTER 2
THIRD CHAPTER 3
FOURTH CHAPTER ...........................................4
FIFTH CHAPTER ..............................................5

Any ideas?

Set a right-aligned tab stop at the right margin for the page number. Click inside the TOC entry and set the tab stop on the horizontal ruler.

Thanks Stefan, that was it. Good job. I was puzzled because even if I deleted the TOC nad recreated it on another page it was doing the same. I am still a bit confused but deleting the extra tab stop did the trick,

Looking for and deleting any "excessive" tab stops was going to be my next suggestion. :-) Such tab stops may come from the heading, at least if the heading has auto numbering applied to it (but those kinds of tab stops are usually on the left, next to the paragraph number, of course).

Sometimes there is no simple explanation for excessive tab stops. You can click inside the heading and press Ctrl+Q to remove any garbage which doesn't come from the heading style.

Thanks for the follow-up.

Consider modifying the TOC1 style.

Charles, since the TOC styles are set to update automatically, by default, modified tab stops (or any paragraph formatting) are usually incorporated into the style.
