Step back and see the logic for Word doing this: this is under the Review tab; so therefore, it is coded to show a default word "Comment" and a #

If you can settle with this, go to the Word Options > Popular > Then at BOTH "User Name" and "Initials," delete these, BUT REPLACE THESE ITEMS USING YOUR SPACE key because Word wants something there

You will then get Comment followed by the # of the Comment only when you insert a Comment and NOT your initials or name or whatever

Hope this helps some

Thanks for the reply, zyzzyva57. The issue is that I want to remove the entire label (all of "Comment [#]"). I understand that Word is coded to list the comments in the Review tab, but why does it also have to show up in my document (especially when printed!)?
