Interpreting special characters as bullets and indentations

Hi Gurus



I have a plain long text database field where I denote indentations and bullets with characters such as /* for bullets and /~ for indentations. /** denotes second level bullets and so on.

When I import this plain text into Word, I'm trying to determine if there is a way for Word to translate the above into the intended format.

Any solution will solve an age old headache.

As long as Word is happy with the characters you choose as markers, I would expect Find and Replace (ctrl + H) to do the job in two passes:

1. find marker, replace with Style
2. find marker, replace with nothing, no formatting

It would be good to learn of a single-pass method, of course …
