Converted documents are a kludge. They are a mess for formatting. Editing one is an exercise in frustration. If I valued the document, I would import it as plain text and reformat within Word. Word for Wordperfect Users

That said, how things look when you insert using the footnote or caption features in Word are controlled by Styles.
