Word will not open docx file

Yes, I have upgraded to Office 365. This did not resolve the problem.

Also, my wife can open the same file without any problems. I think the problem must in my computer, but I have no idea what to do.

Upgrading is not what I suggested... Indeed, doing so might only exacerbate the problem.

I have now tried the procedure you suggest. No "repair" option was shown.

I am running Win 8.0. I wonder if that is part of the problem.
