You could use a TC field to display
IV Life and Works ...................
It might help to use http://www.gmayor.com/table_of_contents_addin.html which makes the task easier. Select the IV and the following line and use Mark TOC Entry. IV to 4 may be a step too far to achieve automatically, but you can edit the inserted field. e.g. { TC "4 -Life and works" \l "1" }
