![]()
Hi:
![]() I have been searching for 8 hours( youtube, articles, forums) on how to convert a Word 2007 document with left justification, double line spacing, and multiple paragraphs to a document with full justification, single line spacing, and all in one paragraph. I have copied and pasted the doc. to notepad and then clicked tab Format/word wrap and it came out perfect. The only problem is notepad doesn’t have all the nice features (fonts, size, colors, etc) that Word has. So I tried copying the perfect notepad document and pasting it back to a new Word Doc (Rich text style, Unicode), but Word returns it to its original left justification, etc. Not good. I tried word wrapping in Word but that is for wrapping a picture usage. I want only for text. I even tried OpenOffice with Wrap2Latex extension but that also turned out to be a fluke. |

Basic Formatting in Microsoft Word
Basic Concepts of Microsoft Word - from Shauna Kelly Understanding Styles in Microsoft Word I don't have an answer for you other than to learn Word. I doubt I would want to read what you are putting together, but perhaps you are trying to put something together that no one will want to read. Full justification looks pretty but is hard to read. The spacing between lines is intended to increase the ability to quickly read it. Paragraphs are essential to understanding language. |

Thanks for the response but if I wanted to be a professional writer, etc then maybe it would be worth my time to learn Word, but my time is worth much more than learning Word. Forums are for people who have a specific problem. Not to learn a complete course in Word. My question involves only word wrap. Very simple and to the point. Character style, etc matters not. It need not look pretty. It is for my own use. So basically the point is that it must be an issue that is too complex even for the most astute in Word knowledge or I am beginning to believe that it can't be done in Word since no one knows how to do this and I am sure they have all studied Word as you have just recommended to me.

The articles I linked are far less than a complete course in Word. They would take less time than the time you've spent on this question so far.
Word wrap is built into Word. You can't turn it off. The basic formatting article should tell you how to do the justification and spacing. These forums are not to fix your problems, they are to guide you to fix your problems. Otherwise, you could use a different program. WordPad comes to mind. It is much simpler. |

To turn an entire document into a single paragraph requires nothing more than a Find/Replace, where: Find = ^p Replace = ^l (to insert line breaks) or Replace = space character (to eliminate even line breaks) Do note that you're liable to lose a lot of font formatting, etc. if you do either of these, but that is a necessary consequence of doing what you say you want to do. Double-spacing & justification are easily handled via the 'Paragraph' panel on the Ribbon's Home tab. Quote:
