Microsoft Office 2013 seems to have removed the ability to place a border around an image in a Word document. You used to be able to highlight the image, right click, select Format Picture, and apply a border. Voila.
Now when you right click and select Format Picture a window opens to the right of the document, and gives you options to add shadows and 3D, etc., but the border option is gone. So I went to the ribbon, and selected Borders and Shading. I was able to apply the border that way. However, I need to apply a specific color to the border and have to repeat this step a bazillion times, so it took me too many keystrokes to get what I needed, especially compared with how easy it used to be. I then tried to create a macro to consolidate all those keystrokes into one icon click, but the macro function doesn't permit you to select the image, and if you select it before you begin, it UNSELECTS it when you start the macro. Total fail. So I thought I would create the macro without selecting anything - I began recording, applied the appropriate style to the paragraph I was in, and then clicked Borders and Shading to apply the correct border. When I tried it on the image, it created a table cell around the image, and placed the border around THAT instead of the image. So a macro isn't an option. Did Microsoft just hide the option to put borders around images? Or is it completely gone now, except for Borders and Shading on the ribbon? |
