![]()
Hello there MS Office Forums!
![]() We have an extensive catalogue of Word documents which supports our business. We have a header / footer embedded in each document which contains our company branding, address and contact details. The Co. no and VAT number are placed in the footer. When any of the details within the header / footer change it is a very painful and time consuming exercise to update them all. Is there a way to create a 'Master' header / footer which can be used on all documents and, if the 'Master' is updated the change(s) will automatically cascade to all documents? Many thanks, Abri |

Use Autotext in a Global Template to hold the variable information.
Use AutoText fields to display the information in your document templates. The normal template should not have headers or footers. You can use a different template as the basis for the bulk of your documents. See Letterhead AddIn(s) - Default New Document. |

You can also save your header and footer as header and footer building blocks (in a global template). This is a bit more cumbersome than the method previously suggested but requires no macros. Those building blocks could either contain the AutoText fields or could simply be the text you want. The global template should be the same one that contains the AutoText.
