Default Track Changes in Word 2013 when Converting to PDF

Hi Folks,

I'm having a few problems with word 2013 that didn't show up in the 2007 version.

I am working on a set of preocedures that need to be submitted to a client. The client requests that track changes is used to show a vertical red line in the left margin adjacent to any changes and that all documents are submitted in pdf format. Sounds straight forward doesn't it?

Problem is that since moving to word 2013 the vertical red line only shows up if you are in simple markup mode. When I then convert to PDF my red line becomes black and I can see both the changed and unchanged text in the document. The only way I can find to make it only show the corrected text is to accept the change which then removes the line in the margin which defeats the purpose of tracking the change. Can anyone out there explain to me how to set my change tracking up so it gives me what i'm looking for when the document is converted to pdf please?
