Default Please help! Problem with list of figures!!!

Hello

I made a PDF of my Word document. There is a list of Figures. Most of the page numbers in the List work just fine. But a few of them, want to link back to the original Word document, not the figure inside the PDF that I made. What is going on here? How can I fix them? HELP!!!!!!

The problem is most likely in the links in the Word document rather than being a result of the conversion; I suggest you examine the links there.

yes I did look at the "toggle field codes" and I can see that the path for some of them indicates an external file. however I attempted to remove that part and just indicate the internal location as with the others and I found sometimes when I update the table it re-writes the code and reinserts the path to the external file.

why would this happen in the first place? there is nothing different about those figure captions that I can see.

How did you insert the links? If they were inserted as hyperlinks, you probably have some with the document's path & name in them.

I just generated a list of Figures. The links were created automatically when I did that.

How did you create the PDF? Can you attach a document with some sample content and the corresponding PDF to a post to demonstrate the issue? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen.

I made the PDF with Save As > PDF.
But I'm certain the problem is in the Word version, because if i hit "toggle field codes" I can see that the problematic links have the full path in them and the ones that are fine don't. I just can't figure out how or why some of them have the full path and some don't. the list of figures and links therein was just generated automatically.

Unfortunately I can't provide an example because the the content is confidential.

In that case, the simplest solution might be to edit the errant links to remove the file paths, so they're formatted the same as the others, then update the fields (e.g. Ctrl-A, F9). having done that, your document & (new) PDF should work fine.
