The 'issue' is normal behaviour in Word - a Find begun in the footnotes or endnotes only searches that range. I don't know what you mean by "(as every other normal piece of software does)", as most software doesn't work with files that have footnotes...

You might get better productivity by using a split window, so you can see both the bibliography and the document body/footnotes at the same time.
