I use several templates for the work that I do. Once a word doc is created though, I don't need the docx to be tied to the dotx anymore. Can I separate them somehow?

The reason I ask is because the dotx is on a network location with incredibly slow performance. When I open the docx, I get a progress dialog box stating "opening <template.dotx>". This takes a while and since I don't need the association with the template anymore, it is unnecessary.
