Why on earth did this suddenly happen to my list indents? (see pic.)

Seems kind of buggy, and not right..
When I click "Adjust list indents".. I set them for "Tab character", and 0,2cm like I always do. They should not, and have never looked like this, when I do this.. so I guess some other configuration is interfering? If so, which?
I can use the "space" option, but I would rather not.. as I find it is too close to the bullet point.

Anyone know why this happens?

0.2 cm seems too small a value for most bullets. Note that all measurements in the Adjust List Indents dialog box are relative to the left margin (of the page, table cell, text box or any container where the bulleted list is located).

"Bullet position" is the position of the bullet. "Text indent" is the position for the second and subsequent lines of each bulleted paragraph. And "Add tab stop at" defines the position where the text starts (on the same line as the bullet).

Actually, "Add tab stop at" is provided mainly for backward compatibility; I always set it to the same amount as "Text indent."

Totally not at all an answer for what I asked.
I asked why, out of the blue, did the distance between my bullets and the text become huge (like 30+ spaces), in the same document, without me changing any settings at all? And now suddenly that is the the default, even though the "0,x cm" values in the "Adjust list indents" option is exactly the same as before

You haven't explained what you have tried so far, to fix the problem. As I wrote, 0.2 cm is a very small value.

Please share the document with the forum, if you are allowed to. I'd be happy to take a look.

Well, the one thing I knew that could fix distance between text and bullet points does not work. No matter what I type in adjust indents, the distance stays the same. So haven't tried much else.
Sorry about snapping reply! It's just that this is screwing up my work, making everything take 10 times longer.

The problem turned out to be an extra custom tab stop at 4.89 cm, causing the text after the list symbol to skip to that tab stop.

I fixed the problem by deleting the tab stop from all paragraphs.

Note that using a custom style with bullet formatting would take be easier, because it gives you control over the formatting (including tab stops).

Thanks a lot, that worked. Was really annoying too.
How can I change this for the entire document, so it never again pops up?

Let me re-phrase that.. I managed to remove it each time it pops up - however, it seems to have become the "document default".. so every time I make a new bullet list.. it adds this 4,86cm stop. How can I change this default setting?

Once added, paragraph formatting (such as tab stops) will be transferred to a new paragraph as you press Enter. In the same way, line spacing or spacing before/after gets transferred to a new paragraph. Selecting the whole document and deleting the tab stop is what I did with the attachment I added in my previous reply.

Note that if a tab stop has been added to a paragraph style, then you will have to modify the style to get rid of the tab stop. I saw no evidence of that happening in the document you sent me, though.

On the other hand, if you are saying that the actual bullet format adds the tab stop, you will have to modify the indentation as I suggested in a previous reply. For more control, create a paragraph style.
