I clearly have a Section 10 and Section 11 in my document, yet those sections are not selectable in the drop-down list where you
format page numbers. Thus both Section 10 and Section 11 have page numbers A-1. What does this mishegoss tool want? Thanks. |

You will find the answer to your question (which I do not understand) in one of these pages:

I don't understand what you don't understand. Looking at the footers, there are two sections Word thinks is there but don't appear on a selection list.
When I choose Insert->Page Numbers->Format Page Numbers, the window that appears has a feature where you can pick which section you would like this formatting to apply to. Sections 1-9 are available for selection, Sections 10 and 11 are not on the list. Therefore, they never get the formatting right for the page number. The links you sent do not address this question. |

Sorry, I never use Insert > Page Numbers > Format Page Numbers to pick a section. I go to the section where I want to change the page numbering and format it there. The links I gave you should tell you how to format your sections and handle the page numbering. I'm sure you have not read them yet.
Every section has three headers and three footers. It may have a separate kind of page numbering. It is possible to have page numbering be different in different headers and footers in the same section. A single page can have multiple sections. I suspect you have a page with more than one section. I gave you those links because I have to get back to my paying job and thought you could use them to find your answer. Glad you figured it out. |
