![]() Is there a way to create footnotes without any number or letter or symbol marking where the reference occurs in the text? I'd also like no number or symbol to appear in the footnote. I want to link certain footnotes to certain words without the use of numbers or symbols. I am using Microsoft Word 2007 but could upgrade. |

Modify the Footnote Reference style in your document (or the template, if this is for many documents). In the Modify dialog, click the Format button and choose Font. Put a check mark in the Hidden box.
The footnote numbers in both places will then be invisible unless you turn on display of hidden text, either by clicking the ¶ button or by going to the Options > Display page and checking the Hidden Text box. |
