I desperately need help! The reason the word count changed is because my track changes disappeared. Anything I did prior to yesterday and today is gone, completely gone, 175 pages worth of work that took me weeks. Only the comments remain. I did not save the work I do every day in a separate document or on a flash drive, but now I realize that's a good practice. Everything was saved to the cloud using Dropbox, though, and perhaps they can retrieve the missing work for me.

Does anyone have any other ideas?
