I'm finding a very strange behavior with my OLE links in Word that are linked to my Excel workbook and hoping somebody may have seen this before or has any idea why.
My original OLE links look like the below. Code:
{ LINK Excel.Sheet.8 "C:\\Data\\xxxx\\12-14\\xxxxx WPs.xlsm" "Cover Charts!Charts_Cover_Main" \p } Code:
{ LINK Excel.Sheet.8 "C:\\Data\\xxxx\\12-14\\xxxxx WPs.xlsm!Cover Charts!Charts_Cover_Main" \p } So it appears that transferring the file from 1 pc to another is changing the link slightly, and thus can not update the charts without a manual search and replace first to fix it. anyone see something like this? This is in 2007. Last edited by ptmuldoon; 12-03-2014 at 04:26 PM. |

In a quick update, we have learned that this appears to possibly be a MSWord/Office 2007 potential bug issue.
If we downgrade the save version from .docx to the older 97-2003 version of .doc and then email or transfer the file the link is not changing to include that ! exclamation point and things work correctly. We are moving to Office 2013 in about 2 weeks, so hopefully this gets resolved with the new version. |
