Default Disappearing line

Odd little problem... In my document I've chosen a Page Number header that I like... it has a place for alternating Author Name and Book Title and corresponding odd/even page numbers, then below that there is a gold line that runs the width of the page... I like the line... but for some reason, on my odd number pages, no matter what I do, the line doesn't show... it shows consistently on even number pages... I've selected, unselected, chosen other options and come back to it, but I cant make it work with the line under the information on both odd and even pages... any thoughts would be appreciated.

Alternating even and odd headers are two different headers. Their only connection is that they are in the same document.

If you want the line in both, you have to copy it from one where you have it to the one where it is not. Lines are commonly paragraph borders but can be graphic elements.

The line itself won't allow me to "copy" it... it appears in the "example" in the pull down menu for "page numbering options" but not on the page, but only for the odd number pages... if I try to copy I can copy the title and page number, but it won't "select" the line.

There are too many ways to create lines for me to give instructions for them all.
Attach a sample document with the header you want. I'll give it a look.

To attach a document here, click on the "Go Advanced" button at the bottom of your reply box and then click on the paper clip icon.

P.S. I never use the built-in headers, that's why I'm not familiar with your problem.

I would, but I can't seem to get my document small enough, I've deleted everything for 3 pages (and one of those is empty) but it's still too large. It says it's a 5.29MB doc, but it's only two pages of text. If I figure that out I'll send it along.

I've looked at the headers that come with Word 2010. Lines in them are paragraph borders.

In a copy of your document, try copying the even page header to the odd page header area. Then change the text justification to the other side.
