Saving drawing canvas as vector graphic

I need to save graphics I've done using Word as vector graphic images. I use the drawing canvas to make them. Is there a way to do this? Would it work to just paste all the elements into Visio and save from there? (I need to know this before I pay to get Visio.)

If needed, Visio 2010 has the option to save as "Scalable Vector Graphics" with .svg extension or, "Scalable Vector Graphics - Compressed" with .svgz extension.
