Post Formating My Book

Hi Guys,

I've been trying to get this thing formatted correctly & the software seems to auto format things to a weird setting.

Currently the document is about 24 pages, in chapter form & currently when I try to start a paragraph under the chapter heading it turns it all bold or to a larger font. How can I set Word (mac 2011) to not bold the subheading under the chapter & create a paragraph style.

Idealy I want to use an existing format or template within word that I can use to create Chapter headings, then edit it as time goes on.

I am still learning how the forum works so if there is a resource for book writers I would love to use that.

Andrew

Any comments or suggestions are helpful.

Thanks in advance for your ideas

I just read my post & should probably be a little more specific.

Currently when I hit tab to indent the paragraph it BOLDS the text, I hit tab & it like auto formats thru several kinds of text styles.

In the past when I hit tab it indents... is there a button i hit or formatting function that I set... that needs to be unset?

An attitude like that is hardly likely to engender a favourable response. For starters, you've posted on what is a weekend in most parts of the world, so you're expecting people to give up time they might have set aside for other things just to tend to your issues. Plus, some of use like to eat, sleep, etc. Furthermore, on any forum, some of the 'reads' can come from web bots that index web sites. For all I know, most of the 'reads' so far have been of that kind.

As for your particular issue, your description suggests you're not using Word's Styles properly. If you're going to do anything more than write the occasional 'note to self', you really need to learn how they work, and start using them. See:

http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide/styles.htm

Although the above is mostly PC-centric, the same principles apply to Word on Macs.

My apologies but there was no ill intent, I was just surprised that so many people had looked at the post but nobody had replied.

Thanks for the post & I will read the links you gave!!!

So there are bots that scroll the forums & they cache this site for posting elsewhere?

Well, there's a lot of bots about but, whether this thread will be indexed depends on whether it contains key words or expressions they'd be looking for. The miss-spelling of 'Formatting' in the thread title reduces the possibility.
