An attitude like that is hardly likely to engender a favourable response. As for your particular issue, your description suggests you're not using Word's Styles properly. If you're going to do anything more than write the occasional 'note to self', you really need to learn how they work, and start using them. See:

Although the above is mostly PC-centric, the same principles apply to Word on Macs.
