I frequently write technical documentation and these documents are of two different types:
- One type is intended for printing (and normally distributed in PDF form); to edit these documents I work in Print Layout
- The second type is only meant for screen viewing (taking up the full width of the screen). For these documents I use Web Layout
Until Word 2010 a document would always open correctly, i.e. displayed with the layout that was active when I saved it last. In Word 2013/365, however, a document always gets displayed in the layout that is currently active in my Word session. This is not dramatic of course - it is easy enough to see that the display is wrong and to change layout - but I was wondering whether this is a bug or works-as-intended and, in case of the latter, whether there is an option to revert to the old behavior.
I have searched the Web before posting this question but nothing useful come up. I did find a Microsoft article mentioning that Word 2013 has a completely new "layout engine" but I don't even know whether there is any relation.
