I want to list out xml data in word, decribing each tag in one line. The data should also be able to define the hierarchy of the tags. The problem is that there are too many tags to be described. I tried dercibing them on a table, but it didnt come out very clear. What could be the best possible way to describe such data?

If you have a very deep hierarchy you run out of horizontal space.

You could use Styles with various levels and a different left indent for each level.

I would cascade the style definitions so that each level is based on the one above it. That way you can change the font or other formatting in all of them by modifying the first level definition.

If I've understood your question, I'd split the information into two: start with a graphic to illustrate the DTD or other structure, then use a definition list to present information about each element.
