Really Need Help with Columns

Hello all.

I need to create 4 columns on a page, each completely independent of each other. What I type in the first column never gets pushed to the second column, but rather continues in the same column on the next page. Same goes for the remainder of the columns.

How can I do this? I am using Word 2013.
