Please can anyone help with this?
Whilst I can achieve the effect I want in an isolated file I cannot achieve the same with a new template I am creating that uses a number list style and text styles that I have also created. The attached file shows two paragraphs that look almost identical. The second one is what I am looking to achieve but is a screenshot image of the first paragraph before it lost it's formatting. This occurred when I saved the file; ie: before saving it looked like the image and after saving it changed to the actual text shown. The two images at the bottom are the settings that were used to create the paragraph. I used this formatting successfully in earlier versions of Word without the glitch that I am now experiencing and I am baffled as to why the format changes and also what saving the file does to make this happen. Does this look familiar to you and are you able to help? Thanks in advance. ANDY |

What is it you are seeing that I am not? This is fairly standard formatting for a table of contents. The number is at the far left. The body is indented left and right. Another number follows a dot leader at the far right, beyond the right indent.
In the screenshots below, I show your page both with and without non-printing formatting marks displayed. Is this question posted elsewhere? If so, a link between the two postings should be provided. |

Hi Charles,
What has happened during the save process is that the right tab of 16cm has been lost and although the tab is set at 16cm the text aligns with the right indented text in the paragraph. Compare the image and the written text. I took a screen dump before saving to show that the correct formatting was achieved but is somehow lost during the save process. Does this give any more food for thought? Thanks, ANDY |

Charles,
I rushed to respond before I saw that you had included some images with your response and it looks like the glitch in the written text is not showing itself when you open the same file. If this is the case and so that you understand my problem I have attached another similar file this time with a screen dump of the "wrongly" formatted paragraph in place of the text in which you will see that the right alignment of the tab setting is lost. Regards, ANDY |
