Hello all,
I'm setting my first steps into word macro's and VBA programming. I received a demand to do the following in word: Create a document(template) in word - which on open ask the user "Would you like to use the Request Writer Helper" (Yes/No) - if the user agrees, this should launch a second marcro in which the user must select for each possible (predefined) paragraph the required text. (Finish/Cancel) When the user clicks on finish, the selected text should be put into the word document. - An icon to call the macro should be placed in a separte toolbar in the document. All possible text selections should be preferably in the template, so that everything can be done localy. We are still using Word 2003. Is there anybody of you specialist that could help me out with this and could guide me along the way ? Thanks already in advance for your assistance. |

Check out my reply to this post here and you should find most of the answers that you require - you can add more yes/no options, or use some of the other VBA commands to create a template that opens and gives the user a range of choices which will auto fill the document - If you need any further help - I'll keep an eye on this thread and chip in if needed!
God luck, and have fun with your first sojurn into VBA. ![]() |

Hi and thanks for the reply.
The related thread already puts me in the right direction. I still have some questions & issues, but i'll first try to find out more on myself. I'll be posting my findings later tomorrow, so if you would assist me afterwards, that would be a great help to me. Thanks again. |

Hello Bird,
As i'm moving along on my path in VBA, i have a few more questions. The basic idea of writing a "writing assistant" hasn't changed, but i wanna try it in a different way. The concept i have in mind is: When the word doc is opened by a user, the user should see different dropdown boxes on 'fixed' places in the word document, where he can select different opening, middle and ending paragraphs. When he selects a text via the dropdown box, the text should be merged into the doc. An additional toolbar should be created where he has the possibility to show/hide the dropdownboxes. Now, is there some way you could help me out with these challenges i'm about to face .. Thanks already for your answer. Vincent |
