Hi everyone,
Really glad to have found this forum! I'm alternately scratching my head and worrying about this. I'm editing a 450-ish-page manuscript in Word. The manuscript is in English, but it contains a lot of French words with diacritics, most of which I'm adding in at this editing stage -- i.e. they're being flagged as additions, because I have track changes on. I'm adding them to appear in italics, in case that makes any difference. I've just taken a look back toward the beginning of the document, and noticed that a lot of these words that involve diacritics have been scrambled somehow -- the accented letters have been replaced with completely different letters. This is obviously a long document, that I've been opening and closing for a few weeks now, and I don't know when this happened, but I know that those aren't the letters I entered. Does anyone have any idea what's going on, and whether I can fix it? It's a .docx file that was originally produced by someone else, who sent it to me (as a .docx) to edit, and I've renamed it since I received it. Really hoping there's someone who can shed some light on this! Thanks so much for reading. |
